Biography
Sheryl McFarlane is a multi- award-winning children’s author with more than a dozen books to her credit. She is the author of the highly acclaimed Waiting for the Whales, Jessie’s Island, A Pod of Orcas, This is the Dog, and The Smell of Paint, a novel for older juveniles. Many of her books have been either anthologized or have been reprinted in educational editions, and several have appeared as “bedtime” stories in North American newspapers. A special edition of A Pod of Orcas was printed for the Education Ministry to support their Family Literacy Program. Sheryl chairs is the former chair of The Victoria Children’s Literature Roundtable, as well as a former teacher. She is a popular school and library speaker. She has three grown daughters and lives in Victoria, BC, Canada.
