Biography
Julie Burtinshaw is the author of six critically acclaimed novels, both fiction and non-fiction, for young adults. She is a gifted speaker whose creative writing workshops promise to engage even the most reluctant teen readers and writers, while inspiring those students who want to take their writing to the next level.
She has appeared at all the major writer's festivals across Canada and has spoken at numerous high schools and conferences.
Julie was the Writer in Residence for three months in Dawson City, Yukon, and spent four weeks at the Gunnar Gunnarsson Institute for Scholars, Artists and Writers in Iceland in the fall and winter of 2008.
Her last book, The Perfect Cut was a 2010 nominee for Ontario's White Pine Award and she has an essay in an anthology that includes such notable thinkers as Barak Obama and Al Gore.
Julie will once again be teaching creative writing to teens at the 2010 Canadian Children's Book Camp.
