Biography
Linda Bailey is the author of more than twenty books for children including the Stevie Diamond mystery series and the Good Times Travel Agency series of comic-book histories of ancient civilizations. She has also written numerous picture books, most recently the Stanley-the-dog books (Stanley's Party, Stanley's Wild Ride and Stanley at Sea). Linda's books have won awards across Canada, including the Ontario Silver Birch, the B.C. Red Cedar, the Atlantic Hackmatack, the Saskatchewan Shining Willow, the B.C. Book Prize, and (twice) the Arthur Ellis Award from the Crime Writers of Canada. She has also won American awards including the 2005 Georgia Storybook Award and 2006 Oregon SMART Award.
Born in Winnipeg, Linda traveled around the world in her twenties and then moved to Vancouver, where she earned a B.A. and M.Ed. at the University of British Columbia. She is an ex-college teacher, an ex-editor, and an ex-travel agent. She has two grown daughters named Lia and Tess, a golden retriever named Sophie, and a cat named Daphne. Linda lives in Vancouver.

Guest speaker/presentation information
Linda offers three interactive options for school visits. All three cover the writing process, including inspiration, perspiration, publication and the heartache of rejection. You can also count on props, powerpoint and humour. (Please email her for a detailed information page.)
OPTION 1: A picture-book presentation featuring Stanley-the-dog and The Farm Team (hockey book). For grades 2 to 4.
OPTION 2: Stevie Diamond & Stanley-the-dog. The focus this time is mysteries and picture books as we look first at the Stevie Diamond mystery series and then at the adventures of Stanley-the-dog. For grades 3 to 6.
OPTION 3: Mystery & Time-Travel Adventure. The focus here is two genres: mystery novels (Stevie Diamond series) and time-travel adventures, written in graphic novel format (Good Times Travel Agency series). For grades 3 to 6.
Linda is also happy to speak to adult groups of teachers and librarians at conferences and other venues.
