Biography

I worked in children’s books for seven years, five of those at Vancouver Kidsbooks. Now I work full time as an author and a workshop leader, mentoring youth in creative writing. My weekly workshops through CWC, the Creative Writing for Children Society, produces books by aspiring young writers.

Book types: YA fiction

Guest speaker/presentation information

The goal of my workshops are to get students excited, not only about writing, but also about the research process. From fantasy, to sci-fi, to humour, to graphic novels, I draw on my experience as an ex-bookseller and still avid reader to introduce your classes to authors they may have never heard of before. (Book list is offered to your school in advance so that you may make sure your library has stock of the books of which I will speak.)

WHAT DO YOU GET?

A one-hour presentation from a working professional, a break for you, and inspiration for your students to see the world a little differently. Time permitting, you will also receive a comic-style poster to advertise my visit.

To see a video of a typical author-talk, please visit my personal website.

Presentation geographic range: Vancouver, Coast, Lower Mainland, Gulf and Vancouver Islands, Thompson Okanagan, Northern British Columbia, Cariboo Chilcotin Coast, Kootenay Rockies, The Territories, Canada - beyond BC, USA
