Biography

Sara Leach is a children’s author and teacher-librarian in Whistler, BC. Her books include Jake Reynolds: Chicken or Eagle?, a chapter book for 8-11 year olds, published by Orca Book Publishers, and Mountain Machines, a picture book for preschoolers, illustrated by Steven Corvelo and published by Poppy Productions. She is working on her latest mid-grade novel which will be released by Orca in Fall 2011.

Sara has been a classroom teacher and teacher-librarian at the elementary school level since 1994. She loves sharing her books and talking about the writing process with students from K-8.

Some of the topics she can address during author visits include:

* where to find writing ideas
* the importance of revision
* the publishing process

If you bring her to your school for a full day, she will include a FREE 45-minute after school workshop for your staff.
Writing for Teachers: Experience the writing process yourself so you can model writing more comfortably for your students.

Writing Workshops

Sara is also available to teach writing workshops to community groups, at writer’s festivals, or to critique groups. Past workshops she has offered include:

* Critique Groups: How to begin, maintain, and get the most from a critique group.
* Writing for Children: Learn what makes a good children’s book, special hints about the publishing process in the children’s lit world and how to take your writing to the next level and get it noticed by publishers.
* Improve Your Writing: Ten useful ideas you can use to make your manuscript shine.
