Biography

Nancy is the author of nine picture books and one YA novel. Her focus as a writer is on using evocative language to create a powerful atmosphere in each book. Her style of writing has been referred to as poetic prose, and her books are often used in the classroom as pattern books for student writers.

She lives in Vancouver, where she divides her time between being a mother of three, a teacher-librarian in an elementary school, and a writer.

Guest speaker/presentation information

Nancy's presentations are one hour in length, and are comprised of the reading of two of her books; discussion of her writing methods and where story ideas come from; information on the publishing and illustration of picture books; always time is saved for students to ask questions and discuss their own writing with Nancy.
The cost for a one hour session is $250; two concurrent sessions are $400; a full day, $500.

Presentation geographic range: Vancouver, Coast, Lower Mainland, Gulf and Vancouver Islands, Thompson Okanagan, Northern British Columbia, Cariboo Chilcotin Coast, Kootenay Rockies, The Territories, Canada - beyond BC, USA

Presentation audience age groups: grades K-3, grades 4-6, grades 7-8, high school
